Rising hockey star Darcy Bourne admits that gaining her first England cap last month gave her the confidence in front of goal after firing three superb hat-tricks in a row.
Bourne helped Surbiton complete a 7-1 win over Beeston to remain top of the Vitality Women’s Premier Division on Saturday.
Georgie Twigg, Maddie Long and Alice Sharp were also on the scoresheet for Surbiton while Lucy Millington was on target for the hosts, but it was Bourne who stole the headlines.
“Getting three consecutive hat-tricks has been really fun and I think the experience I gained in Argentina, getting my first cap, really helped me when I came back to the English league,” said the former England junior and Duke University student.
