David Harte: Self-assurance is crucial as a hockey goalkeeper

When you trust yourself, you stop behaving as erratically. I learnt to stop myself from sliding out of goal, flying around the D when you don’t need to be. 

The first game I played in the Netherlands, I learnt very quickly how high the skill levels were among the guys over there; playing against Rotterdam, in front of a packed crowd of 3,000 baying supporters.
