The rise of Richmond: Coach David Goodfield on titles, club vision and hosting Premier Division hockey

So, what now for David Goodfield? The GB international certainly has some thinking to do at the end of the season after coaching Richmond men to Premier Division heights last weekend while playing for Surbiton. Surely we couldn’t see the unprecedented scenario of coaching one team while lining up with another rival top flight team?

“I will be absolutely gutted to get them to this point and not be able to carry on,” Goodfield, 30, told The Hockey Paper. “The reality is that it’s very unlikely I will be able to play at Surbiton and coach Richmond in the same league at the same time, it just wouldn’t work.
