Beeston won the England Hockey Cup double after toasting success at Lee Valley over the weekend.
Beeston men avoided a Cup giant killing as they held off Banbury on Sunday with a 4-2 victory over the Midlands Conference side.
Tyson Nunneley opened the scoring for the Oxfordshire side and were less than two quarters from a famous win until Beeston scored four times in 26 minutes in the second-half.
Banbury were disallowed a goal as they aimed to level at 3-3 following Josh Nunneley’s equaliser in the final quarter.
Max Sowter and Henry Croft, with his second, then earned Beeston their second title in five seasons after an exciting finale.
“What an entertaining game and our crowd loved it,” said Banbury’s assistant manager Andy Camp.
On Monday, Beeston women beat Holcombe 2-1. The Bees took a two-goal cushion through Lucy Millington and Lottie Summers. Hattie Jones pulled a goal back four minutes from time but couldn’t level at the death.
In other results, Canterbury beat Reading 2-1 in the Men’s Over 50s Tier 1 Final. Leek beat East Grinstead 2s 4-0 in the Men’s Tier 2 final.
This was Beeston’s fourth Cup success in five seasons.
