Great Britain men and Spain will kick start this summer’s Olympic hockey competition after the 14-day schedule was released on Wednesday.
The 12-strong men’s and women’s competitions will start on Saturday July 27 at Yves-du-Manoir Stadium when Paul Revington’s side face the Spanish at 10am local time.
World champions Germany, who qualified in Oman before the pools were revealed in January, will begin their quest for a first Olympic gold since London 2012 when they push back against France on the opening day at 5pm local time.
In Pool B, Olympic men’s champions Belgium face Ireland, who are returning to the Olympic for the first time since Rio 2016.

On day two, Great Britain women, medallists in their last three Olympics, will come up against Spain, who won gold at Barcelona 1992.
The Hockeyroos play Great Britain on July 30, while Germany face a Pool A showdown with Netherlands on July 31 and the Kookaburras play Belgium in a Tokyo 2020 gold medal re-match.
The last pool matches will take place on Aug 2 and 3. The top four nations in each group will progress to the knock-outs.
For the men, all four quarter-finals will take place on Sunday Aug 4, with the semi-finals scheduled for Tuesday Aug 6. The bronze medal match will get underway at 2pm on Aug 8, with the gold medal match taking place at 7pm.
For the women, all four last eight matches will take place on Monday Aug 5, with the semi-finals scheduled for Aug 7.
The finals will take place on Aug 9.
