Euro Hockey 2023: England women lacked consistency, says Ralph

David Ralph, England women’s coach, admitted that his side lacked consistency as they failed to win a medal for the third EuroHockey running.

England reached the semi-finals before losing 7-0 to world No 1 Netherlands and then falling short of bronze after hosts Germany coasted to a 3-0 win.

“You look at the world rankings and there are five out of the top eight and the quality is high,” said Ralph. “When you go up against Germany and the Netherlands you are with the best and you have to be competing longer in games against them. It’s a good lesson for us.
