Hockey Pro League: Great Britain men stutter in bid for title glory

Lee Valley — The FIH Pro League trophy will remain in Antwerp as Germany pulled off another late hockey heist with a last-gasp penalty corner nine seconds from time to deny Great Britain the chance to inch towards their first major men’s trophy for 35 years.

Defeat, confirmed from the stick of dangerman Gonzalo Peillat from a disputed corner, saw GB — who moved to world No.3 this week for the first time since the rankings were conceived 20 years ago — to only their second defeat in 16 matches.
