Slough hockey club hosts Kenyan community

Slough HC held an exclusive training session for the local Kenyan community as part of its local community outreach programme this month.

This was organised as part of the Berkshire club’s commitment to supporting the local community by encouraging anyone young or old to get involved in sport and hockey by making it accessible and fun.

The afternoon consisted of an introduction to hockey conducted in a safe environment and was aimed at U18 children.

Slough HC provided an afternoon of free coaching expertise and also the use of key equipment to help the children familiarise themselves with the game. They were shown some of the basics as well as participating in some fun games that help them learn new skills, teamwork and make new friends within the borough.

The club also had some of its own junior hockey players down to help run the day and free food and snacks were also provided by the club.

The guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves and some are even considering joining the junior sessions once they begin in September. Despite the weather, a fun day was had by all!

This is the first of its local community sessions that Slough has arranged ahead of the new season.
