Sam Ward: A heck of a season in store for Men’s Premier Division

At the new domestic hockey season approaches, THP columnist Sam Ward runs the rule over his title contenders in the Men’s Premier Division

The most dominant force in English hockey in the last 20 years, this heavyweight club didn’t have a great season last year but they have put in the work during the off season with some cracking signings. The first mention goes to James Mazarelo in goal. A good keeper is worth their weight in gold to any team.

He didn’t get a huge amount of pitch time in the Commonwealths but make no mistakes – this guy is quality and will make a huge difference to Surbiton. He’s a hell of a shot stopper, I have seen him make saves right out of the top drawer. A real exciting young talent and the best is yet to come.
