Euro Hockey League set for early season curtain-raiser

Tickets have gone on sale for the EHL Men’s KO16 which takes place at the home of 2014 champions Harvestehuder THC in Hamburg from Sep 29-Oct 2.

The four-day event features 16 leading clubs from 11 different countries in 16 fixtures, raising the curtain on the 2022/23 European club season.

Season tickets covering all the action cost €50 while two day tickets are available for €35 and single day tickets for €20.

Each day will feature a team from the city of Hamburg with Hamburger Polo Club’s debut taking place on the first two days of action before the HTHC take centre stage on days three and four.

Polo will be the evening game on Sep 29when they face Wimbledon in a potential cracker.

It will be the fourth fixture of the day which opens with the meeting of MHC Lille and AH&BC Amsterdam and is followed by a battle between Switzerland’s Rotweiss Wettingen and Belgium’s Gantoise. The winner of those fixtures will meet in the KO8 on Sep 30 with a place at Eatser’s FINAL8 on the line.

Polo and Wimbledon are in the next quadrant and will play either France’s CA Montrouge or Ireland’s Lisnagarvey in their second game. In addition to the two KO8 fixtures on September 30th, there will be two classification fixtures with crucial ranking points on the line.

Oct 1 sees eight more teams enter the fray. English champions Old Georgians face experienced EHL campaigners SV Arminen before two more newcomers hit the turf – Dutch side Pinoké coming up against SK Slavia Prague who become the first Czech side to play in the EHL.

The Catalan derby between Real Club de Polo and Club Egara looks set to be a thriller before the hosting Havestehuder THC welcome Scotland’s Western Wildcats.

Each side will line out for their second game on Oct 2 with the vital KO8 fixtures.
