Slough Hockey Club, one of the most successful clubs in England, have become embroiled in a planning row over pitch development as it sets its sights on growing increasing playing numbers in its 100th year.
The row centres on Slough Cricket Club’s plans for a third cricket pitch at the shared facilities at Slough Sports Club – on an area of land earmarked for hockey development – proposals of which were approved at a council meeting.
Slough HC, who celebrate their centenary in September, also want space for a second pitch at the facility and have been firmly rebuffed in giving the cricket section ways where both sports can be happy.
