Flight path saves Olympic hockey from heat

Hockey Olympians have been spared afternoon games in Tokyo’s expected blazing temperatures next month thanks to local flight paths, as well as heat concerns, The Hockey Paper can reveal.

Hockey will take place at the Oi Stadium, which features two competition pitches, and is situated around 8km from Tokyo’s international airport.

There has been concern over matches taking place during the afternoon heat, where temperatures could reach high mid 30C temperatures, with humidity at 85-90%.
