Hockey could soon have a ‘smart’ ball for game and player data

A microchip inside a hockey ball could soon be the talk of hockey, according to inventors of a revolutionary cricket smart ball which tracks power and revolutions.

Australian outfit Kookaburra has collaborated with SportCor to develop the Smart Ball, the first cricket ball to have a Bluetooth microchip fitted inside, and has aspirations to branch out into hockey and baseball.

The ball is currently being used for the first time in cricket’s Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
