Future uncertain for England Hockey’s popular Futures Cup

A coach of a Futures Cup-winning side says it would be a “real shame” if there is no replacement tournament for the England Hockey event.

The 2021 tournament at Oaklands College, which finished on Saturday, could be the last in its current guise following changes to the talent development programme.

The popular event was hailed by Rob Farrington, who co-coached the Saxon Tigers under-15 girls to the title, and says the Futures Cup is “by far the best part of the talent system” after experiencing the tournament as both a player and multiple coach.
