‘Harmful effect’: European hockey alliance aims to bridge international and domestic calendar

The principal players behind the recently formed European Hockey Clubs Organisation (EHCO) say that the limited windows currently open to domestic hockey is having a “harmful effect” on the finances of clubs, families, and sponsors.

The EHCO has been working for the last 18 months to form the association which it says will represent and have direct influence on world and European hockey’s future agenda.

Leandro Martínez-Zurita, EHCO president, said that it had held a number of talks with the International Hockey Federation and the European Hockey Federation and had already made inroads regarding the calendar holding three international blocks – like in football – and allowing no conflictions with domestic hockey on the continent.
