Hockey5s: Netherlands women stand up for equal rights

Goalkeeper Kiki Gunneman had initially mulled over travelling to Muscat. On Saturday, she was a world champion as the Netherlands strolled to victory over India in the first Women’s Hockey5s World Cup.

When Oman was awarded the World Cup in 2021, Kate Richardson-Walsh resigned from the world hockey’s athletes committee, while Gunneman, who was a frontrunner for her position with her indoor exploits with the Oranje women, had conversed with her girlfriend over whether to participate.
