A mother has praised her daughter after the pair teamed up to help Perthshire Hockey Club continue their fine start to the season.
Karen Thomson, 53, and 17-year-old daughter Riley Thomson were both playing for Perthshire HC women’s 1s last month against Edinburgh Hockey Club and both scored in a 2-0 win.
The mother-daughter combination have played on the same team for several years and joked that there were still some teen tendencies on the pitch!
“It can be quite tricky. She can be very good at turning a blind eye or ear to much of what is being said!” she told the Perth Advertiser.
“But she has developed her play over the years and is now independent and also the captain, which is nice to see.
“She is really developing her leadership skills and is one of many talented under-18 players within the club, supported by some more experienced players.”
Riley netted from a penalty stroke and then linked up with her mum who slotted home to record the win. Victory put them behind table-toppers Dundee Wanderers
Riley also plays county tennis for the North of Scotland.
