Holcombe women sign five ahead of Premier Division return bid

Holcombe women have revealed a raft of summer signings as they look to bounce back to the England Hockey Vitality Premier Division in 2023/24.

Jade van der Zwan joins from Australian side North Coast Raiders and also has experience as part of the WAIS and Australian Indoor World Cup team

New Zealand international Deanna Ritchie is also one of five recruits for the Medway side.

Lucy Whalley joins Holcombe from Wimbledon having previously played in Division One South, as well as for Brooklands and collegiately in the United States.

Tilly Tillings has previously played in and scored a number of goals in the Vitality Division One South and further bolsters Holcombe’s forward options.

Meanwhile, Hannah Bond has experience of the Vitality Division One South with Sevenoaks and the indoor Super 6s Premier Division.

On joining the club, van der Zwan said: “I’m excited to step out of my comfort zone and play in a different country, learn from experienced players & coaches and make new friendships.”

“Tilly is a quick and exciting forward with a keen eye for goal and experience of the league with Canterbury.

“Hannah is a fantastic player both indoor and out and I’m really looking forward to working with her this year.”

The team will take on Sevenoaks (Sep 2, 5pm) and Surbiton (Sep 9, 2pm) in pre-season friendlies at Holcombe Park before beginning their league campaign with away fixtures against Southgate and Surbiton 2s.
