Maddie Hinch was made an OBE on Wednesday as GB’s star goalkeeper admitted that she had yet to take a step back and take in the success of being part of a “golden generation” of women hockey players.
Hinch received the royal accolade from the Princess Royal at Windsor Castle for her services to the sport after she hung up her gilded pads, gloves and helmet last year.
“The whole thing feels a bit like a dream – I’ve probably never really sat back and tried to take it all in, it’s just been such a whirlwind,” the 35-year-old said.
