‘Incredible feeling’: Ireland men secure final Paris Olympic hockey ticket in classic match

Valencia — Goalkeeper David Harte called it “indescribable”. Coach Mark Tumilty heralded it his greatest day as a player or coach. Captain Sean Murray called it a “special moment”. 

Ireland are through to the Paris Olympics. Four years after their controversial defeat in Canada, the Green Machine prevailed in another of hockey’s classic end-to-end encounters. Korea sunk to their knees after giving it their all at the final hooter. They have now failed to qualify since London 2012, but, my, how they gave Ireland a match.

From 2-0 down, they came back from 3-1 and 4-2 to set up a pulsating finale.
