As it was, Spain scored five before GB rattled in eight to progress to the FIH Olympic Hockey qualifying semi-finals.
Six second quarter goals ultimately set up this 8-1 rout against an inadequate Malaysia, a match occasionally akin to a training ground session once the defensive floodgates opened. Tess Howard, Giselle Ansley, playing her 100th cap, Hannah French all scored braces.
