EuroHockey 2023: England women endure heaviest defeat to Germany

Monchengladbach — England endured their heaviest defeat on record against Germany and their biggest at a women’s EuroHockey in 21 outings against their continental rivals as the hosts ran riot in a 5-0 win. 

Germany’s 11 penalty corners to England’s nil told part of the story as a second-half onslaught yielded five goals in 21 minutes. The error count was equally costly. Meanwhile, the screw was being turned in such a fashion that memories were flickering of their 8-0 defeat inflicted by Oranje nearly four years to the day.
