GB women pay emotional green and gold tribute to Grace O’Malley-Kumar

Lee Valley GB women wore black ribbons on their shirts as well as a green and gold ribbon — the University of Nottingham colours — on their astro shoes “to represent the life” of Grace O’Malley-Kumar on Friday. In her first year at the university she had experienced the highs of BUCS gold with UoN. Having played England under-16 and 18s, the university side had also made great strides and, alongside, Grace’s fledgling career was taking shape.

GB women’s Darcy Bourne had played in the same team as the first year medical student and experienced BUCS victory with her in the UoN women’s team. “From hearing about it, she was absolutely ecstatic to win and she loved Nottingham from the sound of it,” GB’s Alex Malzer, a UoN alumni, said of Grace.
