Matchday Diaries: St Albans Hockey Club

In our latest Matchday Diaries series, our host Emily Kilner ventures to St Albans HC and goes behind the scenes at a club which recently celebrated their 125th anniversary.

It was a vibrant day in Hertforshire as Emily spoke to the next generation of club players and finds about their ‘perpetual game’.

She spoke to club members young and old – Children now outnumber adult members at St Albans – as we discovered the reason behind the distinctive tangerine colours.

In celerating the day, the club also welcomed back some club greats, from Andy Halliday and John Hurst talking about their past successes, to Ellie Watton and Hannah Mcleod.

Our Matchday Diaries have previously featured Wimbledon and Canterbury.

Hosted by Emily Kilner, The Hockey Paper speaks to club officials, fans, coaches, managers and players – and of course get a flavour of the traditional match teas.
