‘Modern’ Herne Bay step out of Canterbury hockey shadows

Lucy Marks, chairwoman of Herne Bay HC, has overseen the most radical change in the club’s history, as the club made a long-awaited move from their outdated facility, one with no floodlights and an astroturf pitch that dated back to the 1980s.

The club, which Great Britain great Sean Kerly played for in his youth, is now homed in a brand new £10 million facility with two high quality sand-based pitches and a high specification pavilion thanks to a project led by developer Quinn Estates.

The road to their new home was far from straightforward due to the outbreak of the pandemic, however, now firmly settled there, the facility is acting as a game changer for the club.
