England men’s coach Paul Revington has left the door ajar for Ashley Jackson to return to the international fold. Jackson announced his international retirement in March 2021 after a 15-year career and remains England and GB’s top scorer, with 137 goals. “I hope I haven’t put the shirt on for the last time,” he said at the time.
In an interview with The Hockey Paper last season, Jackson still harboured a desire to return to international colours despite closing one chapter on his brilliant career to date.
Aged 35, he is still one of the best in the world game, his love of the game burning bright after a Championship-winning season with Old Georgians and the prospect of European hockey to come this season.
