Winner of Mercian goalkeeper foam for school or hockey club revealed

Recently we announced a campaign to find a recipient for £400’s worth of goalkeeping kit donated by Simon Mason at Mercian and Old Georgians Hockey Club.

It followed an initiative by Mercian for the winners of a Masters tournament to find a school or club to donate the kit to.

Old Georgians O45s decided that rather than simply choosing a school local to their base in Weybridge, Surrey, they would recruit the services of The Hockey Paper to run a nationwide campaign to find a school or club desperately in need of the kit which includes kickers, leg guards, and deflectors.

We are now delighted to announce the result, with the help of former GB and England star goalkeeper George Pinner.

Check out the video below, with The Hockey Paper‘s Oliver Morgan, and make sure you watch until the end to hear about our special announcement.

As George revealed through the wide variety of entries, we realise that there is a wider issue regarding goalkeeping kit and that is why we have launched a crowdfunding campaign to help more clubs.

Thanks to all who participated, and thanks in advance for all contributions to this great cause!
