2022 NET Masters Hockey World Cup: Nottingham event preview

England have mastered the Commonwealth Games, now it’s time for the hockey masters to battle for gold. Here’s the lowdown…

Who’s taking part?

There will be 49 teams from 19 countries taking part between Aug 12-21 at Nottingham Hockey Centre for the over-35 men and women, and over-40 men and women events.

Countries taking part are: Argentina, Australia, Chile, Czech Republic, England, Frane, Germany, Ghana, India, Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, USA and Wales.

Action will take place across four pitches over the 10-day competition. There will be around 160 games in all, with 48 umpires across the world and 30 officials. Given the size of the event, 30 Hockey Maker volunteers have also been called upon.

Teams to watch

England women over-35 are the current world champions from Terrassa, while the men’s over 40s will also be defending the gold they won in Spain last time out.

All spectators are welcome at the event with entry free at Nottingham Hockey Centre.The schedule can be found here while matches will also be live streamed.
