School’s hockey floodlight plans compared to ‘alien spacecraft landing zone’

Fears that hockey floodlights will also affect 6,000 years old ancient and historic Rollright Stones – despite being several miles away

A top Cotswold prep school’s proposals for a hockey pitch and floodlights have seen a wealth of complaints from angry villagers who have deemed plans as “landing zones and communication stations for large alien spacecraft”.

Residents near to Kitebrook Preparatory School in Moreton-in-Marsh/Chastleton have made nearly 100 objections to West Oxfordshire District Council following plans to include 15m floodlights.

Many complaints centred on wildlife disruption, noise pollution, floodlight glow concerns, natural light issues and “speeding school traffic having no regard for country roads.”
