Reader’s research into oldest women’s hockey league in UK

A Hockey Paper reader believes that he has found the oldest women’s hockey league in the UK still in existence. Scott Evans is conducting research into women’s league hockey – which was fervent in the north of England 100 years ago – and says that a Bolton league over a century ago could be the oldest.

Evans wrote to us after he spotted a story we published a story on the current Bolton women’s league looking for more players and teams to join.
