Hockey World Cup: ‘Liam Sanford isn’t the kind of guy to make a meal of anything’

Bhubaneswar — Surbiton’s Tom Sorsby lamented England’s late show defeat to Germany but remained “immensely proud” of their World Cup campaign.

“It’s the old ‘lose to Germans on penalties’ seems to ring true,” said Sorsby as he took in a shoot-out defeat at the Kalinga Stadium.

He told The Hockey Paper: “If you consider we have only conceded goals within two minutes of the whole tournament, it’s a shame those have been so pivotal in taking us to a shoot-out and ultimately us losing.

    • I know the incident they are talking about it’s when the Germany 🇩🇪 forward poleaxed Sandford and he went down like a sack of potatoes.
      This happened to me once and I really wasn’t able to play for the next 10 mins
      Also in the India game Zac got hit (elbow in face ) by an Indian forward,He was very lucky he didn’t score from this as then the umpires would have been able to go back to this incident via VAR which looked very much lick a red card
