My hockey dream team: from breaking backboards to engine room players

You play for decades and share a pitch with so many players of varied abilities. Some are quiet and ‘make up the numbers’, others charismatic, talented and become a focal point in team selections, writes STUART LODGE.

We all have views on the best players with whom we shared a Hockey pitch, but if we were able to assemble an elite XI, what would it look like?

Long after I became an umpire, following a decade with Bath Buccaneers HC, these thoughts came to me and after a lot of ‘in and outing’ the following bunch emerged:
