‘It got too much for grandad’: Ollie Payne reveals pressure of watching England!

Birmingham — England fans have endured two men’s games of tension-ridden passages of play in their electric 4-2 win over Wales and 4-4 draw with India at the Commonwealth Games. Doubly so for the players’ families.

Hockey’s end-to-end nature clearly got too much for Ollie Payne’s grandfather, who left the Wales match at half-time due to the rollercoaster passages of play.

“Half of Devon, I think has come up. My grandparents have been up but grandad watched one half of a game and then said his blood pressure was too high so he had to leave,” Payne revealed after the entertaining draw with India.
