State of the Game: ‘We need to put fun back into England Hockey Cup’

Beeston’s jubilant Women’s Cup coach James Sordillo says the sport is “crying out” for a revamp to England Hockey’s top tier domestic knock out.

Beeston beat Buckingham in this season’s Cup denouement at Lee Valley, the Cup winners taking the competition seriously in an otherwise depleted tournament, with seemingly little love shown for the event given the amount of walkovers and entries.

“Regardless of how others might view the cup, the reality is that there are only three top level trophies available in the country, we are delighted to have one of them,” Sordillo told The Hockey Paper.
