‘Most unique ever’: Mulders endorses Belgium and Netherlands joint Hockey World Cup bid

Jamilon Mulders, the outgoing Netherlands women’s coach, believes that the joint bid by Belgium and the Dutch to host the combined 2026 Hockey World Cup would be “one of the most unique” ever staged by the sport.

The two European heavyweights have put in a dossier to host the sport’s showpiece in Wavre, near Brussels, and Amsterdam, with Potchefstroom in South Africa as the other combined bid, alongside several standalone candidates.

Mulders was interested in the reason behind the joint bids to host the next World Cup and whether hosting men’s and women’s events will be viable.
