Leicester Hockey tie up with aparthotel outfit

Leicester City Hockey Club announced a new partnership this month that will see The Gresham Aparthotel named as its ‘Preferred Accommodation Provider’ for 2024.

The partnership is the first of its kind in the club’s 129-year history and will allow players and officials in the Vitality Women’s National League to have a luxury night sleep ahead of matches to ensure optimum performances.

It reflects the club’s ambitions to provide professional standard hockey in Leicester, and The Gresham’s commitment to support the local community.

Sarah Treanor, vice-president at Leicester City Hockey Club, said: “This is a really exciting partnership for Leicester CIty Hockey Club and we are proud to have The Gresham Aparthotel as our preferred accommodation provider for this year.

“It means teams that travel across the country will be able to stay close to the venue on match days and have the preparation they need to compete at their best levels.

“I know first hand the high standards The Gresham Aparthotel adheres to and the quality apartments are perfect for visitors to the city.”

Mark Hills, general manager at The Gresham Aparthotel, said: “Leicester City Hockey Club and The Gresham Aparthotel both share a common value of giving back to the city and local community.

“With the club installing a brand new Olympic standard pitch last summer and hosting elite level hockey in the city centre, we are excited to be a part of their journey back to the premier divisions and beyond.

“We understand the importance of quality sleep and the impact of rest on performance, and hope this partnership means travelling for sport is more accessible for all involved.

“As a supporter of the club, we’re proud to offer special rates to members, officials, supporters and opposition for their stay at any time of the year.”

The Gresham Aparthotel resides in one of Leicester city’s most iconic buildings on Market Street, with 121 suites and apartments that combine luxury hotel services with the comforts of apartment living.

Formed in 1894, Leicester City Hockey Club are six times winners of Women’s England Hockey League and offer senior, junior, and walking hockey at St Maragaret’s Pastures Sports Centre.
