Olympic Hockey qualifier: Ireland women ready for ‘home’ Spain game after stellar show

Valencia — “How can it not be a home game with the amount of people over here?” said Sarah Hawkshaw after Ireland women put on another stellar performance to qualify for the Olympic qualifying last four. “We play Spain a lot and know each other well. It will be a battle and we have to take our opportunities when they come.”

It was another statement 60-minute show on Tuesday night after downing Korea 3-1 here. They remain undefeated from their three games and have leaked just one goal. Ireland will play hosts Spain on Thurday after second-half goals from Sarah Hawkshaw, Deirdre Duke and Rosin Upton ended Korea’s Olympic dream.
