Maddie Hinch has made her first steps into coaching outside of her popular MH1 goalkeeping camps after being revealed as assistant coach at University of Connecticut.
Hinch joins Paul Caddy, UConn field hockey’s head coach, with the former England and GB great flying to the US following her broadcasting stint at the EuroHockey Championships in Germany.
Hinch joins UConn after officially retiring from England and Great Britain duties earlier this year and from club hockey with Dutch side HC Tilburg.
Caddy said: “We’re bringing in the best goalkeeper of all time. She has played at the highest level and will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our program.
“We’re excited to get her on campus and kick off the season.”
The Huskies headed to Pennsylvania last week to open their season against the Saint Joseph’s University Hawks.
Hinch will oversee players such as freshman Natalie McKenna.
The 34-year-old launched MH1 in 2017 following Olympic gold. They have proved very successful and usually see sold out courses.
