Euro Hockey 2023: England men connect with 2009 gold for final berth

Monchengladbach — Hero James Mazarelo said England men used the motivation of the 2009 gold medal winning team for inspiration as the men’s side reached their first major final for 14 years on Friday night.

England had been beaten in three EuroHockey semi-finals against Germany in the last five editions, but Mazarelo stopped a fourth with a final shoot-out save to earn a final berth against the Netherlands on Sunday.
