Reading Hockey Club have named Rob Foxall-Smith as their new women’s 1s head coach for the 2023/24 season.
Foxall-Smith joins Reading having been Head of Ladies’ Performance at Team Bath Buccaneers last season as well as at the University of Bath – a role he will continue in alongside his role with Reading.
In addition, Foxall-Smith will continue as head coach for England Over 35 women.
On the appointment, Foxall-Smith said: “Reading is part of the fabric of English hockey and it is a privilege to be joining a place with such a proud tradition of excellence. The club, and this playing group, have all the tools to be a force at the top of the game again and I am excited to get to work in realising that ambition.”
Tim Hunt, chair of Reading Hockey Club, said that Foxall-Smith’s “credentials and passion for the role” stood out from his first contact with the club.
“I am delighted that a coach of such calibre and whose coaching path is on such a positive trajectory has chosen to take on this role. I know the whole club is looking forward to welcoming Rob and to seeing our Women’s 1st XI continue to progress in the Premier Division.”
Foxall-Smith will begin working with the playing group at Reading immediately as they prepare for pre-season and another full season in the EH Premier Division.
