Girls School finals: Repton take under-16 title

Rosie Bowman scored a six-minute hat-trick as Repton won the under-16 Notts Sport Girls Schools Hockey Championship Tier 1 final at Lee Valley on Wednesday.

Millfield had taken a 2-0 lead through Maya Corbin and captain Samantha Digby-Duell inside 16 minutes before Bowman got in on the act.

She replied two minutes later and added two further PC goals to give Repton a 3-2 lead in a frenetic opening half. Isabella Chihota then converted a penalty stroke to give Repton breathing space and a 4-2 victory.

In the under-14 Tier 1 final Surbiton High School’s Amelie Carter kept up her form in front of goal as her side beat St George’s College 3-0 in the final.

Amelie and Julia Fleming were also on the score sheet, as Carter finished with seven goals in the tournament.

Meanwhile, in the Tier 2 finals Sutton Valance claimed a tight shoot-out win over Manchester High School for Girls.

After a 2-2 draw in normal time, the shoot-out proved a stalemate before Valance prevailed 6-5.

Elsewhere, in the under-18 girls Tier 3 final, Buckinghamshire state school Great Marlow beat Loughborough High School.

Great Marlow’s Kiera Allen scored what proved to be the winner in a 3-1 win.
