My life in hockey: Nike Lorenz, Germany women’s captain

Die Danas captain Nike Lorenz, 24, made headlines at the Tokyo Olympics when she led calls to be able to wear the rainbow colours at the Games. She is currently studying for a Masters of Science in entrepreneurship, innovation and management at Nottingham Business School.

I can’t think back to a time when hockey hasn’t been a part of my life. I grew up in a crazy hockey family and was taken to the pitch before I could even walk. 

I’m really appreciative of that. On the one hand, hockey has given me great academic opportunities and performing at a professional level. On the other, it has made me the person I am today, being disciplined with it and trying to work together as a team, who also have the same goal.
