England Hockey outlines next steps in talent strategy to rival best in world

England Hockey says that around 500 players per gender will be ready “for the intensity and commitment” of its new Talent Academies when the first tranche are appointed next Spring.

Under its newly-formed talent strategy plan, which aims to be ‘consistently top three in the world’ in female and male elite competition, England Hockey aims to have 24 Talent Academies (TA) up and running beyond 2022.

Last August, England Hockey laid out a blueprint which the national governing body recognises will be a “seismic change” for the nation’s talent pathway for the first time “in a decade, if not a lifetime.”
