Struggling hockey clubs have the chance to apply for a £5,000 grant to support running costs as part of a nationwide competition.
The initiative is part of ‘Clubs in Crisis’ competition launched by charity Made By Sport, which is looking for sports clubs and organisations to share the impact caused by the pandemic.
Made By Sport believes that around a quarter of organisations may not survive the effects caused by coronavirus.
The charity said: “We estimate there are over 150,000 grassroots clubs and organisations that provide an essential outlet for young people.
“Today an estimated 25 per cent of community clubs may not be able to open their doors again. We can’t let this happen.”
Three sporting clubs have the chance to win £5,000 to help with the costs endured by a second lockdown.
To enter, clubs must record a two-minute video, including what the club does and how it addresses key social issues such as improving mental health and reducing anti-social behaviour.
The video should be posted on social media with the hashtag #ClubsInCrisis with entries completed at madebysport.com/clubsincrisis
Clubs have until December 21 to enter.
