Alan Forsyth on GB Hockey Olympics: I gave away all my kit

Alan Forsyth, English club hockey’s leading scorer who was picked as a GB reserve in Tokyo, has revealed he has given away all his Team GB Olympic kit and doesn’t admit to even being in the Japanese capital for those who don’t know him.

Forsyth, who has moved from Surbiton to HGC this season, says that being in Tokyo was “probably the worst experience of my life” as he dealt with being an accredited playing reserve alongside Harry Martin and goalkeeper George Pinner.

  1. An absolute travesty not playing Alan Forsyth in Tokyo.how does a coach not play the leading goal scorer in our domestic hockey league?
    glad Alan has changed clubs.

  2. Was so gutted for Alan after everything he put into GB hockey, including qualification. It’s to his great credit that he went to support his team mates. What should have been a dream come true for him, became a nightmare. He showed his goal scoring qualities in recent Euros 2…something GB could have benefitted from, as well as spreading workload in such challenging temperatures & humidity. Hope Holland works out and that he does persevere for Paris & get real Olympic experience. We love having him play for Scotland and be great to see him in Birmingham.

  3. Imagine if the England football manager left out Harry Cane .
Crazy decision , can’t see how it can be justified . The coach would have been sacked in any other elite sport.
