It’s less than Parr-fect for Wigan hockey goalkeeper!


A Wigan HC goalkeeper and passionate rugby league fan has been donning the shirt of a ‘rival’ club for nearly five years after losing a team bet, writes Richard Bright.

Paul Parr, a leakage manager for a water company, is the only Warrington Wolves fan in the Wigan 1s team, who are nearly all season ticket holders for the local rugby league club of the same name.

But after wearing Wolves’ primrose and blue outfit in goal, the team came up with a bet ahead of the 2016 Super League Grand Final between Warrington and Wigan.

“We have a friendly rivalry when it comes to the rugby field,” Paul told The Hockey Paper. “I also married a Wigan lass a long time ago and I’m a lifelong Warrington supporter from an early age.
