Louth, the Lincolnshire-based club, has doffed its hat to the “tremendous support” of the local town after a near four-year battle to keep hockey alive in the area.
A new astroturf pitch opened at the club’s London Road Pavilion base in July after securing its own funding as well as a council loan to replace the 20-year-old pitch.
Louth’s very existence had been under threat from sports facility owner Magna Vitae Trust, but a u-turn after a change in management as well as the club’s energetic campaign to mobilise the local community secured the green light for hockey.
