Hockey greats Sean Kerly and Mel Clewlow have led the tributes for the recent passing of Canterbury HC’s Dick Laslett, described as an “unsung hero” for Kent sport.
Laslett, who died on Tuesday, played a key role in developing sports and community facilities over half a century, as well as being part of a group which converted a rubbish tip on land in the late 70s to the site known as Polo Farm today, home of Canterbury HC.
“Dick was always an omipresent at the club and a big strong figure in the background,” GB great Kerly, who knew Laslett for over 20 years, told The Hockey Paper.
