Property developer helps boost Triton hockey’s future

When Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) announced its intention to sell the Alsager campus in East Cheshire for a housing development, so began a concerted effort to keep sports facilities on the site, writes Richard Bright.

MMU sold to David Wilson Homes, with one stipulation being that the developer would contribute towards the cost of pitches and a new sports hub to replace the facilities which Triton HC had been using on the campus.

As one member described it, the club had to play on a battered pitch for many years in order to demonstrate a need for a replacement.
