England Hockey National League: Ups and Downs

With league hockey now back in action, a reminder of who’s up and who’s down ahead of 2020/21 season

WOMEN

Premier Division:
Bowdon Hightown relegated to Division One North
Swansea promoted from Division One North
Wimbledon promoted from Division One South

Premier Division increased from 10 to 11 teams for 2020-21

Division One North
Bowdon Hightown relegated from Premier Division
Swansea promoted to Premier Division
University of Nottingham promoted from Conference North
Leeds relegated to Conference North

Division One South
Wimbledon promoted to Premier Division
Surbiton 2 promoted from Conference West
St. Albans relegated to Conference East
Wimbledon 2 promoted from Conference East

Conference East
Wimbledon 2 promoted to Division One South
Broxbourne relegated to East League
Ipswich relegated to East League
East London promoted from East League
Hampstead & Westminster 2 promoted from South League
St. Albans relegated from Division One South

Conference North
Leeds relegated from Division One North
University of Nottingham promoted to Division One North
Didsbury Northern promoted from North League
Loughborough Students 2 promoted from Midlands League
Beeston 2 relegated to Midlands League
Sutton Coldfield transferred to Conference West

Conference West
Surbiton 2 promoted to Division One South
University of Bristol relegated to West League
Sutton Coldfield transferred from Conference North
Bristol Firebrands promoted from West League

N.B. To ensure that the Conferences all had ten teams following the expansion of the Premier Division to eleven teams, only one of the three ninth placed teams (Broxbourne) was relegated instead of the normal two. Therefore Doncaster kept their place in the Conference North, when they would normally have been relegated to the North League. Team Bath Buccaneers would have stayed up in the Conference West as the highest ranked ninth placed team.

Oxted promoted from Division One South

Cambridge City promoted to Division One North
London Wayfarers promoted from South League
Richmond switched from Conference West
West Herts promoted from East League
Bedford relegated to East League
Chichester switched to Conference West

Conference North
Deeside Ramblers promoted to Division One North
Leeds relegated from Division One North
University of Birmingham 2 promoted from Midlands League
Alderley Edge relegated to North League
University of Durham 2 promoted from North League
Wakefield relegated to North League

Conference West
Old Cranleighans promoted to Division One South

Richmond switched to Conference East

Plymouth Marjon promoted from West League

N.B. To ensure that the Conferences all had ten teams following the expansion of the Premier Division to eleven teams, only one of the three ninth placed teams (Wakefield) was relegated instead of the normal two. Therefore Cheltenham kept their place in the Conference West, when they would normally have been relegated to the West League. Bromley & Beckenham would have stayed up in the Conference East as the highest ranked ninth placed team.
